Winthrop Man Sentenced in Redwood Co Chase

A Winthrop man was sentenced earlier this month for leading police on a high speed chase through Redwood County last October.

Thirty-three-year-old Damon Jon Muchow was sentenced to 364 days local confinement, three years supervised probation, 16 hours community service, and fines and fees of just over $1,000.

According to court documents, on October 15 a Lower Sioux Police officer noted a vehicle driving along County Road 2 at a high rate of speed. The driver responded by accelerating onto Highway 71, then east onto Highway 91, into a ditch and back onto the road, and through Morton with speeds in excess of 100 mph at times before he finally stopped.
