Wolves losing streak reaches 3 as team holds onto final playoff spot

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recorded 20 points and 10 assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 116–103 on Sunday, extending their winning streak to eight games.

Gilgeous-Alexander narrowly kept his remarkable streak of 128 consecutive games with at least 20 points alive. He had only 10 points entering the fourth quarter and returned to the floor with 7:10 remaining after a brief rest.

With 1:46 left, he hit a stepback jumper over Anthony Edwards while drawing a foul, bringing his total to 19. As the crowd stood and chanted “M-V-P,” he made the free throw to reach 20 points, extending his streak and moving further beyond Wilt Chamberlain’s previous mark of 126 games.

Chet Holmgren finished with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Isaiah Joe contributed 20 points for Oklahoma City, which improved to an NBA-best 53–15 record.

For Minnesota, Julius Randle led the way with 32 points, and Edwards added 19.

Oklahoma City created a major advantage by forcing 22 turnovers while committing just seven. The Thunder also attempted 101 shots compared with Minnesota’s 77.

The Thunder started strong, opening the game with a 9–0 run and holding the Timberwolves scoreless for nearly the first three minutes.

Minnesota bounced back and took a 53–47 lead into halftime, as Gilgeous-Alexander struggled early, scoring just four points on 2-for-10 shooting before the break.
