Wolves net historic comeback win
(Oklahoma City, OK) — The Minnesota Timberwolves dug themselves out of a 25-point deficit in a stunning 131-128 overtime win against the Thunder last night in Oklahoma City. It was the largest, latest comeback in franchise history. Minnesota was down 80-55 in the third quarter and still trailed by 24 at the beginning of the fourth, but the Wolves rallied for 41 points in the final frame to force O-T. In fact, Minnesota was behind by 16-points with 3:41 remaining in regulation and scored the last 16 points of regulation to force the overtime. Naz Reid knocked down a pair of free throws to put Minnesota up one in the final minute of overtime, and Anthony Edwards blocked Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on a go-ahead lay-up attempt before locking him down to force a flat three-pointer at the buzzer. Four Wolves players had double-doubles in the victory, with Jaden McDaniels leading the pack with 27 points and ten rebounds. Minnesota snapped a two-game losing streak. Gilgeous-Alexander led O-K-C with 39 points in the losing effort. The loss snapped the Thunder’s six-game home winning streak. O-K-C is now 46-11. The Wolves improved to 32-27 and will visit the Lakers on Thursday night.
