Yankees take down Twins
(Minneapolis, MN) — The New York Yankees opened their series against the Minnesota Twins with a 5-1 win at Target Field last night. Carlos Rodon earned his fourth victory of the season after striking out six batters and allowing one run over six innings. Giancarlo Stanton went deep for the ninth time this year with a solo shot. Alex Verdugo had a two-run double for the Yankees, who are now 28-15. Chris Paddack suffered his second loss of the season after allowing five runs on 12 hits over five innings of work. Ryan Jeffers went one for four with a solo homer for Minnesota, which is now 24-17. Game two of the three-game series is tonight at 6:40 P-M.
