Zebby Matthews Dominates as Twins Avoid Sweep

Zebby Matthews carried a perfect game into the sixth inning as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-to-1 Sunday at Target Field.

Matthews retired the first 17 batters before Drew Romo broke up the perfect-game bid with a two-out single.

The right-hander worked a career-high eight-and-a-third innings, allowing five hits and one run. He struck out five and did not issue a walk while winning his fifth consecutive start.

Josh Bell and Trevor Larnach each drove in two runs. Luke Keaschall added a solo home run in the seventh.
