Zebra Mussels Confirmed in Shamineau Lake

Zebra mussels have been confirmed in Shamineau Lake near Motley in Morrison County.

The Minnesota D-N-R says an angler reported finding a zebra mussel in the lake. Aquatic invasive species staff later searched the public water access and other locations, where they found a second adult zebra mussel.

Boaters and anglers are reminded to clean watercraft, trailers and equipment before leaving a lake. Minnesota law also requires people to drain all water, keep drain plugs out during transport and throw unwanted bait in the trash.

Anyone who finds a suspected invasive species should photograph or preserve it and contact a D-N-R aquatic invasive species specialist.
