ZIMMERMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO TWO COUNTS OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER

The man accused of fatally shooting two people in Hanska in November has pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.  Court documents filed Monday in Brown County District Court say Randy Zimmerman entered the guilty plea in connection with the deaths of Tabitha Trescott and Justin Reinarts.  Both counts carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of release.  As part of a plea agreement, the state will move to dismiss the remaining charges against Zimmerman at sentencing, which is scheduled for October including additional counts of first- and second-degree murder, first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.  Zimmerman is being held in the Brown County Jail in New Ulm.
